Children's Privacy
Apex City is a general-audience city builder. It is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. This page is our statement under the US Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and Article 8 of the GDPR.
1. Age gate
On first launch we ask for an age band - a range, never a date of birth. The answer is stored with the account and decides which features are available. We do not ask a child for a name, an email address, a photograph or any contact detail.
2. Limited mode
An account whose age band is under 13 runs in limited mode:
- No email address and no password sign-in; the account is a device-local guest.
- No chat, no public display name and no player-to-player messaging.
- No purchases and no subscriptions.
- No ads at all - not even rewarded ones.
- No push notifications and no marketing email.
- No leaderboards or profile visible to strangers.
What remains is the city, the simulation and single-player progression. Under-16 accounts in the EEA and the UK additionally never receive personalised advertising and require parental consent for any processing based on consent.
3. What is collected in limited mode
A random account identifier, the city save, gameplay events with no free text, and the technical data needed to serve the game (IP address for rate limiting, kept 30 days). Nothing in that set identifies a child by name, and none of it is shared for advertising.
4. Parents and guardians
If you believe a child has given us personal information, or you want to review or erase what we hold:
- Delete the account yourself from Settings → Account → Delete inside the game, or from the web deletion page.
- Or write to [email protected] with the account id shown in Settings → About. We verify the request through that account and answer within 30 days.
- You may review the child's data (we will send the same JSON export the game produces), refuse any further collection, and require deletion. Refusing further collection means the account can no longer be used.
We delete a reported child account and its data as soon as we confirm the report, without waiting for the 30-day limit.
5. Third parties
In limited mode no advertising SDK is initialised and no sign-in provider is contacted. The only processors involved are our hosting provider and Cloudflare, both acting on our instructions and neither using the data for their own purposes.
6. Store ratings
Apex City is rated for a general audience (PEGI 3 / ESRB Everyone / IARC equivalent) with an "in-app purchases" disclosure. It is not enrolled in Google Play's Designed for Families programme and is not marketed to children.
