Children's Privacy
Apex City is a general-audience city builder. It is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. This page is our statement under the US Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and Article 8 of the GDPR.
1. Our age requirement
Our Terms of Service require every player to be at least 13, including guests. We do not ask for your date of birth or an age band, and we do not store one: we would rather not collect a child's personal information at all than collect more of it in order to check. That means we rely on the age requirement in the Terms, on parents supervising the devices their children use, and on the store's own age rating and parental controls.
Because there is no age screen, there is no separate "limited mode" for younger players. Every account has the same features, which is exactly why the age requirement matters and why we act quickly on the reports described in section 3.
2. What this means for advertising and purchases
- There is no advertising in the game, for anyone, at any age. The apps ship no advertising SDK, so no advertising identifier is read, no advertising profile is built, and nothing is shared for personalised or cross-context behavioural advertising.
- Purchases are made through Google Play or the App Store, where a parent can require approval for every purchase, set spending limits, or turn purchasing off entirely. We recommend that parents do so.
- Chat is filtered automatically and can be reported and blocked by any player: see the Community Rules.
3. If a child has an account
If we learn that an account belongs to a child under 13, we close it and erase its personal information, and we do so as soon as we confirm the report rather than waiting out the 30-day response limit.
4. Parents and guardians
If you believe a child has given us personal information, or you want to review or erase what we hold:
- Delete the account yourself from Settings → Account → Delete inside the game, or from the web deletion page.
- Or write to [email protected] with the account id shown in Settings → About. We verify the request through that account and answer within 30 days.
- You may review the child's data (we will send the same JSON export the game produces), refuse any further collection, and require deletion. Refusing further collection means the account can no longer be used.
We delete a reported child account and its data as soon as we confirm the report, without waiting for the 30-day limit.
5. Third parties
A player who never signs in with Google, Apple or Facebook is never introduced to those providers by us. The processors always involved are our hosting provider and Cloudflare, both acting on our instructions and neither using the data for their own purposes. 6. Store ratings
Apex City is rated for a general audience (PEGI 3 / ESRB Everyone / IARC equivalent) with an "in-app purchases" disclosure. It is not enrolled in Google Play's Designed for Families programme and is not marketed to children.
